Burgess Hill Renovation

BURGESS HILL RENOVATION - SEPTEMBER 2018

From late September 2018, we have been renovating an outdated concrete patio area, surrounded by a concrete retaining wall, into a modernised Raj INDIAN sandstone patio, accompanied by a sleeper retaining wall with sleeper steps, as well as Raj stepping stone pathway leading up to a summer house. We started by first knocking down the existing concrete wall, and digging back the garden. Whilst digging back the garden, we also levelled the garden off, by taking dirt from the right hand side of the garden (the higher end), and used the excess to build up the left hand side, to be level. Once we had completed the lawn excavation, we started to prep the patio, steps and wall area. We used the previous concrete wall as hardcore to fill in the freshly dug area, to create a solid base. Once the area was roughly prepped, we began the steps and wall, by installing the supporting posts, and concreting them into the ground. from here we started to build them up, sleeper upon sleeper. Once we had finished the steps and wall, we began laying the paving slabs, as well as the stepping stones leading to the summer house at the top of the lawn area. To complete the job, we attached a wooden hand rail to the steps, erected wooden railings outside the summer house & topped up all flower bed areas with compost.
